WHO Europe’s latest publication, «Empowering Public Health Advocates to Navigate Alcohol Policy Challenges: Alcohol Policy Playbook,» highlights the urgent need for effective alcohol policies in the WHO European Region, where alcohol consumption is the highest globally. This playbook is a crucial resource for those working to create healthier communities, prioritize public health evidence to reduce alcohol-related harm, improve health outcomes and reduce the financial burden on public finances.
FORUT believes that this alcohol policy playbook is highly relevant not only in Europe but also to the rest of the world, especially in low- and middle-income countries, where transnational alcohol corporations are expanding their markets and where alcohol policies are often weak or lacking. FORUT welcomes the publication of this alcohol policy playbook, which provides essential and critical summaries of evidence to counter the alcohol industry’s attempts to block, delay or weaken effective alcohol policy.
