In 2024, the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global invested over 138.2 billion NOK in alcohol companies, including more than 100 billion NOK in ten major transnational corporations.
Despite ethical divestment from tobacco, the Fund continues alcohol investments, raising concerns due to alcohol’s global health and development impacts. Alcohol contributes to millions of deaths annually and hinders progress on Sustainable Development Goals. The industry employs unethical marketing tactics, especially in low-regulation regions, targeting youth and vulnerable groups.
FORUT urges the Fund to address these ethical issues and reconsider its alcohol-related investments.
